Following the release of Cowboys and Dreamers’ upbeat lead single, “MIA Down In MIA,” in May—a breezy, beach-inspired tune perfect for summer getaways—George Strait has taken a more reflective turn with his latest release, “The Little Things.”
Unlike its predecessor, “The Little Things” offers a deeply emotional perspective, as the King of Country pays tribute to the quiet, meaningful moments that make life truly special. With tender lyrics, Strait captures the beauty found in life’s small joys and memories:
“Like an old Merle Haggard song, mama on the phone. Midnight on a back porch, a slow kiss on a dance floor. A tiny diamond in your pocket, a baby that needs rocking back to sleep. If you’re asking me, it’s the little things.”
To accompany the song’s release on June 14, Strait debuted an official audio video that features a touching montage of personal family photos—some never-before-seen. Among the heartfelt images are rare pictures of his late daughter, Jenifer, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 1986 at the age of 13.
Strait has remained deeply private about Jenifer’s passing and has rarely spoken publicly about his grief. In the decades since, he has largely avoided interviews, choosing instead to let his music speak from the heart.
