Introduction:

Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)” is a classic R&B song written and performed by the Bee Gees, released in 1976 as the third single from their 13th studio album “Main Course”. The song peaked at number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number 2 in Canada. It also reached number 7 in New Zealand, number 61 in Australia, and number 29 in Belgium.

The song’s inspiration came from a housecleaner named Fanny, whom the Bee Gees met while staying in North Miami Beach during the recording of “Main Course”. As they were writing the song with the lyric “Be tender with my love”, Maurice Gibb turned around and saw Fanny, suggesting that they use her name in the song. The song was recorded on January 30, 1976, the same day as “Jive Talkin'”, “Songbird”, and “All This Making Love”. Additional recording took place in February, when Barry Gibb began to use his falsetto as a lead vocal in addition to Robin using his falsetto and sharing the lead on “Fanny” and on backing vocals.

“Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)” is a prime example of the Bee Gees’ signature sound, blending soulful vocals, intricate harmonies, and a catchy melody. The song’s lyrics express a plea for tenderness and love, making it a timeless classic that continues to be enjoyed by fans around the world.
