The legal battle surrounding Dolly Parton’s estate has taken a new turn, but her sister, Freida Parton, is making one thing clear: she does not want the dispute to be mistaken for a family feud.
On September 23, Freida addressed the growing controversy in a heartfelt Instagram statement, rejecting speculation that the Parton and Owens families were fighting over the late country music legend’s estate.
“I’ll say this and this only: there is no feud within our family,” she wrote. “No one among the Parton/Owens family is fighting over Dolly’s estate.”
She also expressed her affection for Bryan Seaver, Dolly’s nephew and former head of security, adding, “We all love Bryan, just as we all love each other.”
Her statement came just one day after a lawsuit and a request for a temporary restraining order were filed against Seaver by She’s Alive LLC, the company overseeing Dolly’s business interests following her death on August 25, 2026. The organization is managed by Dolly’s longtime manager, Danny Nozell.
According to the court filings, Seaver allegedly sent a series of threatening messages to Nozell and others connected to the estate. The complaint claims that the messages escalated before and after Dolly’s death, with allegations that Seaver threatened to damage the singer’s business partnerships and reputation.
One message cited in the filing allegedly threatened to destroy Dolly’s brand partnerships unless certain business relationships were ended. Another reportedly discussed launching a podcast aimed at damaging those partnerships.
The estate also alleged that Seaver referenced his claimed military-contractor experience and access to weapons in communications that left employees feeling unsafe. The filing stated that some workers had resigned or were afraid to come to work.
Seaver, however, has strongly disputed the accusations. In a statement reported by E! News, he described the restraining order as a publicity stunt and argued that his messages had been presented out of context. He also maintained that he had not threatened anyone.
The dispute is particularly striking because Seaver had occupied a trusted position within Dolly’s personal and professional life for years. He succeeded his father in providing security for the singer and her properties and was personally selected to announce her death through her Instagram account.
Now, his relationship with the organization managing her legacy has become the center of a public legal controversy.
Freida’s statement offers a different perspective from the courtroom allegations. While the legal dispute involves the management of Dolly’s business interests, she insists that it should not be interpreted as a division within the family itself.
Her message also serves as a reminder that the people closest to Dolly are navigating grief while facing intense public attention.
