Stella also pushed back against the idea that Dolly died simply from a “broken heart” after Carl Dean’s death in 2025. She acknowledged that Dolly was deeply affected by losing her husband, but believed her sister’s illness had more to do with a lifetime of relentless work and the tendency to put herself last.
