In 1967, a 21-year-old Dolly Parton stepped onto the stage of The Porter Wagoner Show—and into one of the most complicated relationships of her career.
Porter Wagoner was already a country music institution. His television show reached millions of viewers, his rhinestone suits had become legendary, and his name carried enormous weight in Nashville.
