Introduction:
Some love stories become part of music history. Others become the reason the music exists in the first place.
For more than four decades, Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise, have shared one of country music’s most enduring relationships. High school sweethearts who married on December 15, 1979, they built a life together long before fame, awards, and sold-out arenas entered the picture. Along the way, they raised three daughters—Mattie, Ali, and Dani—and created a partnership that has inspired some of the most beloved songs in country music.
Now, as Alan Jackson prepares for the final concert of his legendary career, he is offering fans one more musical tribute to the woman who has stood beside him through every chapter of the journey.
On June 24, Alan announced the release of his rendition of Orleans’ classic hit, “Still the One.” The timeless love song, originally released in 1976, became one of the defining romantic anthems of its era. For Alan and Denise, however, the song holds a much deeper significance.

The year “Still the One” first climbed the charts was also the year Alan and Denise began dating. In a touching reflection shared with fans, Alan recalled one of his earliest memories of Denise practicing a cheerleading routine to the song when they were teenagers in Georgia. Three years later, they were married, beginning a love story that would eventually inspire millions.
That personal connection makes Alan’s recording feel less like a cover and more like a heartfelt letter set to music.
As expected, Jackson’s version brings a warm country touch to the familiar classic. His unmistakable voice adds a layer of maturity and gratitude that only comes from a lifetime of shared experiences. The lyrics resonate differently when sung by a man who has spent nearly five decades loving the same woman through triumphs, challenges, heartbreaks, and renewed devotion.
The timing of the release is especially meaningful.
“Still the One” arrives on June 25—just two days before Alan Jackson takes the stage for what is expected to be the final full concert of his career on June 27 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
The concert marks the conclusion of a remarkable journey that began in small Georgia bars and grew into one of the most successful careers in country music history. After publicly revealing his diagnosis with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease in 2021, Jackson gradually began saying goodbye to life on the road through his Last Call tour.

Now, fans from across the country are preparing to gather in Nashville for one final celebration. The sold-out event is expected to feature appearances from some of country music’s biggest stars, including George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Lainey Wilson, Riley Green, and others. The historic evening is also being filmed for a future NBC television special.
And while the setlist remains a closely guarded secret, many fans are wondering if Alan might perform “Still the One” live for Denise during the final show.
If he does, it would be a fitting ending.
Because before the awards, before the Hall of Fame honors, and before millions of records sold, there was a young man with a dream and a young woman who believed in him.
Nearly fifty years later, she is still the one.
